Homeland Security Grant Program Workshop
10 – 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019
Broward Sheriff’s Office, Public Safety Building
2601 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
On Thursday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office will welcome nonprofits interested in learning how to get grant money for security improvements.
BSO’s headquarters in Fort Lauderdale is a host site for the Department of Homeland Security’s workshop. A representative from the City of Miami Fire Rescue’s Division of Emergency Management will explain how nonprofits that are a high risk for a terrorist attack can apply for up to $100,000 in funding.
The grant can be used for security-related expenses such as training, buying and installing security equipment or the hiring of security staff.
The money is issued by Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Applications will undergo a two-phase state and federal review process for completeness, adherence to programmatic guidelines, feasibility and how well the project description and justification address identified risk.
