BSO TO COLLECT AND SAFELY DISCARD UNWANTED MEDICATIONS AND PERSONAL DOCUMENTS SATURDAY

The Broward Sheriff’s Office will host an Operation Medicine Cabinet and Shred-a-Thon event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The BSO event will take place at the Bass Pro Shop located at 200 Gulf Stream Way in Dania Beach.

At the event, officials will collect and dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medications, as well as collect documents that may contain sensitive information for shredding. 

Residents who turn in prescription drugs will receive a $5 gift card while supplies last. Needles and sharp objects will not be collected at this event, and there is a maximum of two boxes per vehicle for shredding. Each box can be no larger than 16 inches in length, 12 inches in width and 12 inches in height. 

The services provided at this event are free to the public and will further BSO’s ongoing efforts to prevent prescription drug abuse and identity theft throughout the county.
