Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating a fatal industrial accident at Port Everglades.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to Sol Shipping located at 3300 S.E. 19th Ave. Upon their arrival, they found a male lying on the ground. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue pronounced the man dead on scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was struck and run over by a large piece of equipment. The victim was transported to Broward County’s medical examiner’s office. No other injuries were reported. 

BSO homicide detectives and authorities with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
