Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred in North Lauderdale early Saturday morning. 

At approximately 1:50 a.m. on April 12, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a stabbing in the 1800 block of Runners Way in North Lauderdale. BSO deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located two adult female victims suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics transported them to an area hospital. Maguy Pouye was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim, Isabelle Joseph, was treated for her injuries and was listed in critical condition. The subject fled the scene. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate the incident.

Through the investigation, detectives determined that Vital Joseph, who used to reside at the residence and at one time was in a relationship with Pouye, was the suspect in the incident. Late Saturday night, Joseph was arrested by the Palm Bay Police Department with assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol. Joseph was booked into the Brevard County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and burglary of a dwelling with a battery.
