Each October, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) sponsors the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the official national tribute to those firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. This year’s Memorial Weekend will be held October 3rd and 4th and honor 119 fallen firefighters.

BSO Fire Rescue will be participating by illuminating all department fire stations in red during the evenings of October 3rd and 4th, 2020 from sundown to sunrise in support and comfort to the families and co-workers of those being honored.

On Saturday, October 3rd at 7:30 p.m., after illuminating the fire stations, all personnel will line up in formation in tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Firefighters will monitor their radios for a special message of remembrance, which will be followed by a moment of silence.
