Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives arrested a juvenile male for fatally stabbing 14-year-old Jordan Dowdy Monday afternoon in Oakland Park.  

Shortly after 5 p.m., Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a stabbing near the 5400 block of Northeast Third Avenue in Oakland Park. BSO district deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located Dowdy suffering from stab wounds. Emergency personnel transported Dowdy to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

BSO Homicide Unit detectives were notified and responded to the scene to investigate. 

Through investigative methods, detectives determined a 16-year-old male was responsible for the stabbing. Later that same day, the suspect was arrested. The preliminary investigation revealed the 16-year-old stabbed Dowdy after a verbal and physical altercation. 

The suspect was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing. He faces one count of murder in the first degree.
