Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian in Pompano Beach last Saturday evening. 

According to investigators, at approximately 11:47 p.m. that evening, the driver of a 2007 Ford Edge was travelling westbound in the center lane on Sample Road approaching Military Trail. At that time, two pedestrians were crossing Sample Road heading southbound at or near the crosswalk. As the driver, Denfield Gilead, proceeded through the intersection, he swerved to avoid pedestrian Jose Guerrero, and, subsequently, the driver struck pedestrian Robyn Hallow.

The driver stopped his vehicle, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported Hallow to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver and other pedestrian were not injured. 

At this time, neither excessive speed nor impairment are considered factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
