The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit says the suspect in the murder of an 18-year-old in February has been arrested.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a shooting in the 3700 block of North Pacific Breeze Circle in Lauderdale Lakes. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located an adult male on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began life-saving measures. Paramedics transported the individual, identified as 18-year-old Decarlo Horton, to Broward Health Medical Center where he died. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate.
Through investigative methods, detectives identified Jamariel Johnson, 23, as the shooter. According to BSO Homicide Unit detectives, the investigation revealed that the shooting resulted from an OfferUp exchange for the sale of a watch.
On Wednesday, Aug. 7, Johnson was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
