Description of Incident:

A cyber tip and forensic investigation led to the arrest of a 74-year-old man for child pornography.

On March 5, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force took John Rafferty into custody. He faces 10 counts of possessing child pornography and one count of compiling child pornography.

The task force’s investigation began in January of this year when it received information that Rafferty was accessing child pornography.  During the investigation, ICAC detectives found a number of videos, photographs and stories about prepubescent girls engaging in graphic sexual acts. 

According to detectives, Rafferty worked for Broward County Public Schools and retired decades ago.
