Sheriff Gregory Tony and the men and women of the Broward Sheriff’s Office are excited to announce the resumption of BSO’s Operation Medicine Cabinet and Shred-a-Thon events.
Previously postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these free events will resume July 2021 and will help BSO further assist in the prevention of drug abuse and identity theft throughout Broward County.
With COVID-19 safety precautions in mind, residents are invited to bring in unused, unwanted or expired medications for safe disposal. Needles and sharp objects will not be collected at any of the events. Residents who turn in prescription medications will receive a $5 gift card while supplies last.
Officials will also collect personal documents, including check stubs, credit card offers, receipts and any other materials that might contain sensitive information for shredding. There is a maximum of two boxes per vehicle for shredding, and each box can be no larger than 16 inches in length, 12 inches in width and 12 inches in height.
