Dozens of children in Cooper City received some wonderful and timely news this holiday season – they’re on Santa’s nice list, and Santa’s elves at the Broward Sheriff’s Office were lucky enough to hand deliver the information, just in time for Christmas!
Inside BSO’s Cooper City District station sat one of Santa’s mailboxes. In late November and early December, children who live in Cooper City dropped off letters to Santa with their wish lists for Christmas. Santa’s elves, aka BSO Cooper City Law Enforcement Explorers, gathered those letters, connected with Santa and made sure each child was on Santa’s nice list. The Explorers, teenagers and young adults interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field, then mounted their sleigh and hand delivered a return letter from Santa, along with a certified notification that each child is on the big guy’s nice list and a photo of Santa himself.
BSO Explorers and Cooper City District personnel delivered letters to 89 children. The program also served as a fundraising effort for the Cooper City Law Enforcement Explorers Program to assist with activities held throughout the year. In all, the effort raised nearly $3,000 in donations.
