BSO Case Number: 90-1907-006361
Jurisdiction: Lauderdale Lakes
Place of Occurrence: 4150 N.W. 34th St., Lauderdale Lakes
Victim(s): 16-year-old female
Suspect(s): Venorrice Antonio Wells, 31, male, 10/11/87, 1709 N.W. 14th St., Ft. Lauderdale (IN CUSTODY)
Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit detectives arrested a 31-year-old Boys & Girls Club employee after he engaged in inappropriate sexual acts with a 16-year-old girl.
Detectives say Venorrice Wells met the teen while he worked at the Boys & Girls Club in Ft. Lauderdale (2621 S.W. 15th St.) and was giving her a ride home on July 11 when the incident took place inside his car. A week later, the victim recounted the incident to a friend, and the friend notified BSO of Wells’ actions.
Wells is facing two counts of sexual assault of a minor and one count of solicitation by an authority figure.
Wells is also employed as a science teacher at Dillard High School. BSO investigators believe Wells could be preying on minors, and due to his routine interaction with kids, they want to know if he has engaged in inappropriate conduct with anyone else.
Anyone who’s been a victim of Wells or has additional information regarding this investigation should contact BSO Special Victims Unit Detective Ryan Schnakenberg at 954-321-4240. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
