Captain Ian Sklar

Captain Ian Sklar began his law enforcement career in 1993 as an officer with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. He joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 2007, serving in various capacities, including as a road patrol deputy, detective in the Special Investigations Division, SWAT operator and apprehension K-9 handler. In 2013, he was promoted to sergeant, supervising several units, including road patrol in the Oakland Park District, the Crime Suppression Team and the apprehension and bloodhound K-9 units. He also served as an investigator in Internal Affairs. In 2020, Captain Sklar was promoted to lieutenant and served as night watch commander, executive officer of the Central Broward/Lauderdale Lakes districts and executive officer of Internal Affairs and Public Corruption.
Captain Sklar earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Polk State. He is also a recipient of the FBI LEEDA Trilogy.
