Captain Jemeriah Cooper

Captain Jemeriah Cooper began his law enforcement career 2000 as a Correctional Officer with the State of Florida, Department of Corrections. In 2002, he was hired with the Broward Sheriff's Office, Department of Detention as a Detention Deputy. During his tenure in the Department of Detention, Captain Cooper attended the Palm Beach State College and became cross-certified.
In 2008, Captain Cooper became a deputy sheriff assigned to the Oakland Park District. His primary focus has been on training and career development. He served as a field training deputy and has coached and mentored several individuals. He also served with the agency's Honor Guard.
In 2014, he was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the Deerfield Beach District where he was the road patrol supervisor. After several years, he was transferred to the Civil Division overseeing processes for injunctions for protection against violence, writs of possession for real estate, and writs of bodily attachments. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2019 and assigned as the shift patrol commander in Central Broward and Lauderdale Lakes Districts. Captain Cooper was selected as the Executive Officer for Tamarac District in 2021. He was named captain in April 2023.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management and is a recipient of the FBI LEEDA Trilogy.
