CAPTAIN CHRISTOPHER CATHCART
Port Everglades
Captain Christopher Cathcart began his law enforcement career in 2000 with the New York City Police Department. In 2002, he started with BSO as a Road Patrol Deputy in Unincorporated North Broward and worked briefly as a Property Crimes Detective. Captain Cathcart then transferred to Road Patrol in the Pompano Beach District until he was promoted to Sergeant in March, 2013. He was the Road Patrol Supervisor in Unincorporated Central Broward/Lauderdale Lakes for two years before his transfer to Internal Affairs. In 2018, he was promoted and became the Operational Lieutenant at the Broward County Courthouse. He then transferred to Port Everglades in April, 2019, as the Executive Officer. In October, 2019, Captain Cathcart was selected as BSO’s new Law Enforcement Captain for Port Everglades taking over the District Chief’s responsibilities. Captain Cathcart has also been a member of BSO’s Quick Response Force since 2003, and currently serves as its Commanding Officer. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Radford University in Virginia. In 2011, Captain Cathcart received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University. Captain Cathcart is an active member of the Florida Chief’s Association and is a recent graduate of Northwestern’s Executive Management Program.
