Captain Craig Calavetta

Parkland

Captain Craig Calavetta began his law enforcement career in 1991 with the City of Parkland as a public safety officer. He had the dual responsibility of providing law enforcement and firefighting services.

In 1999, Captain Calavetta joined the Broward Sheriff's Office as a road patrol deputy in Dania Beach. In 2001, he served as a detective in the Dania Beach Detective Bureau and later the Tamarac District Criminal Investigations Unit. Additionally, he was a member of the Broward County Dive Rescue Team.

In 2007, Captain Calavetta was promoted to sergeant. As a sergeant, he was chosen to supervise the district criminal investigations units and crime suppression teams in the Parkland and Cooper City Districts. Captain Calavetta also supervised uniformed road patrol in the Parkland and Pompano Beach Districts. In 2014, he was assigned to conduct internal investigations within the Child Protection Investigations Section.

In 2015, Captain Calavetta was selected to lead the Broward Sheriff's Office's Economic Crimes Unit in the Criminal Investigations Division. In 2017, he was promoted to lieutenant and served the Pompano Beach District as the night shift patrol commander. He later served as the executive officer of the County Court Services District.

In 2021, Captain Calavetta was assigned to serve as the executive officer in Parkland. He was promoted to captain later that year.

Captain Calavetta holds a Bachelor of Arts in Supervisory Leadership from Saint Thomas University. Additionally, he is a graduate of BSO's Supervisor's Leadership Academy. Captain Calavetta is also a member of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
