Captain Marks began his law enforcement career at the age of nineteen with the Seminole Department of Law Enforcement where he served as a patrol officer and field training officer. In 2000, he was hired by the Broward County Sheriff's Office where he has filled many roles. Some of these assignments include: Road Patrol in the City of Deerfield Beach and the Countywide Operations Mounted Unit. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he was assigned to various units and road patrol districts to include: Cooper City and the City of Tamarac, Strategic Investigations Division (Auto Theft Unit and Homeland Security), Crime Suppression Team in the South Broward District, School Resource Unit and Mounted Unit. As a Lieutenant he has served as the Road Patrol Commander in Cooper City and as the Executive Officer for the City of Tamarac. In October 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned to serve as the District Chief for the City of Dania Beach. Captain Marks has an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology (Broward College), Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice (Lynn University), a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Planning/Administration (Lynn University) and a Master of Science degree in Public Administration (Lynn University). He is also a graduate of the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course and the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Executive Leadership Program.

Lieutenant Jason Tarala joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 2003.

Assigned to the Oakland Park District, he worked in various capacities, including road patrol deputy, field training deputy and narcotics investigator. He also served on the auto theft task force.

In 2013, he was promoted to sergeant and served Dania Beach and Cooper City. He was selected in 2016 to manage cruise operations for Port Everglades. In April 2017, he was promoted to lieutenant overseeing patrol operations for Port Everglades and the continued oversight of all cruise operations, including harbor patrol. In February 2018, Lt. Tarala was assigned to Dania Beach as the district patrol commander. In February 2020, he was appointed as the Dania Beach Executive Officer overseeing all daily operations.

Lieutenant Tarala holds a bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University in criminal justice.

Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Sheridan Street on the south, State Road 7 to the west and State Road 84 to the north, Dania Beach is approximately 8 square miles and is dissected by US-1 and I-95. The city has an annual population of 28,000 people that significantly increases with tourists and shoppers during the winter season. The city is home to the International Game and Fish Association World Fishing Center as well as other prestigious attractions including Dania Jai Alai and Bass Pro Outdoor World. The city is noted for its large collection of antique shops along a 3-block area of US-1 and a blossoming marine industry.

The district includes the residential areas of a Gardens, Poinciana Park, The s, Meadowbrook North, Dania Highlands, Sheraton Ocean Club, Sheraton Lake Club, Meadowbrook South, South Dania Heights, South Dixie, Dania Heights, College Gardens, Modello Park, Byrd Point, Griffin Park, Key North, Oakbridge, Davis Isles, Avon Isles, Estates of Fort Lauderdale, Ravenswood Estates and Playland Isles among others. Through a contractual agreement between BSO and Dania Beach, the annual operating budget is approximately $10.2 million and provides for 79 positions including a district captain, two lieutenants, eight sergeants, 58 deputies and other positions.
