The City of Dania Beach was incorporated in 1904 as Broward's first city. The city is located immediately south of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, and the Broward County Convention Center. Dania Beach provides services to over 35,000 residents. 

Dania Beach is approximately 8 square miles and is dissected by US-1 and I-95. The city is home to the International Game and Fish Association World Fishing Center and other prestigious attractions, including Dania Jai Alai and Bass Pro Outdoor World. The city is also home to the newly developed Dania Pointe, the premier destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment in South Florida. Dania Pointe has numerous restaurants, bowling alleys, and stores in this delightful outdoor shopping center. Dania Pointe continues to expand with the construction of the Spirit/JetBlue headquarters, training facility, employee housing, and parking garage, complemented by Avery luxury apartments, an AC Hotel by Marriott, and a full-service Marriott Hotel. 

The city is also home to the Casino at Dania Beach and live Jai-Alai. The city is also home to the DCOTA Design Center of the Americas, The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts, and The Holocaust Documentation & Education Center, bringing visitors from all over the world to the heart of our beautiful city. 

Dania Beach is home to The American Maritime Officers (AMO) Simulation, Training, Assessment, and Research Center. The city is also home to SeaTech, FAU's Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering, the nation's first ocean engineering program. The city's extensive recreation program includes a beach and fishing pier, pools, tennis courts, neighborhood parks, and community centers that provide various programs for youth, adults, and senior citizens. 

The district includes the residential areas of a Gardens, Poinciana Park, The s, Meadowbrook North, Dania Highlands, Sheraton Ocean Club, Sheraton Lake Club, Meadowbrook South, South Dania Heights, South Dixie, Dania Heights, College Gardens, Modello Park, Byrd Point, Griffin Park, Key North, Oakbridge, Davis Isles, Avon Isles, Estates of Fort Lauderdale, Ravenswood Estates and Playland Isles, among others. Through a contractual agreement between BSO and Dania Beach, the annual operating budget is approximately 19.5 million. It provides for 94 positions, including a district captain/chief, three lieutenants, eight sergeants, 75 deputies, and others.
