The Broward Sheriff's Office is proud to provide law enforcement and fire rescue services for many areas throughout Broward County.
Multiple municipalities have contracted with BSO for law enforcement services; the agency also serves Broward's Unincorporated areas, the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades and the Broward County Courthouse.
In October 2003, BSO's Department of Fire Rescue was established when all operational and administrative responsibilities for Broward County Fire Rescue were transferred from the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to the Broward Sheriff's Office. The department operates battalions in locations throughout the county.
Note: Certain Broward cities and towns maintain their own police departments however, BSO does provide communications and dispatch services to some of these cities.
