Port Everglades covers an area of 2,380 acres and is the 12th largest container port in the United States. The seaport includes 12 cruise terminals serving 16 cruise lines that launch more than 3,000 cruises each year.
BSO Fire Rescue Station 6 provides specialized firefighting and emergency response capabilities geared to the unique environment of Port Everglades. The Seaport Command has developed a multi-agency communication capability between the airport, seaport and the United States Coast Guard. Station 6 operates two engines, an ALS (Advanced Life Support) rescue unit and a specialized "m-truck" that can deploy water, firefighting foam or dry chemical extinguishing agents onto a fire.
