The Fire Prevention Bureau’s Mission is to provide the residents and visitors of Broward County, with professional, high quality, comprehensive, and cost-efficient fire prevention and life safety management services to reduce the loss of life and property from fire and other perils.
The Fire Prevention Bureau of the Broward Sheriff's Office has a widespread range of responsibilities. Those responsibilities include:
- Providing fire and life safety inspections for commercial and multi residential occupancies
- Plan review and inspection of new and reconstruction projects
- Fire prevention code enforcement
- Reviewing, issuing and inspecting special event permits that include special events such as firework displays and operations involving hazardous materials
Car Seat Checks
Car seat appointments are available for parents/caregivers that need assistance with the installation of a child car seat. Appointments will be scheduled with one of our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.
Youth Firesetter Prevention and Intervention
Broward County's Youth Firesetter Prevention and Intervention Program provides specialized fire safety education for at-risk children.
