BSO Jails
BSO operates four jails in Broward County. The location of your client may be determined by calling the information desk at (954) 831-5900.

To visit a client at one of these facilities, attorneys need to proceed through the main entrance to the electromagnetic scanner located in the lobby. All persons - including attorneys - and their belongings entering a BSO jail are subject to search at any time.
The deputy will direct you to the appropriate location to sign-in. You must also to sign-out at the completion of your visit.
Required Identification
The following two forms of identification are required to meet with your client:
- Current Bar Association Membership card
- Valid government-issued photo ID
Attorney Hours
Attorney visiting hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. Special exceptions can be made during a jury trial.
There is no inmate movement in the facilities from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Meals are served from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. During these hours it may take longer for a client to be brought to the visitation area.
Visits must be concluded promptly at 10:00 p.m. Inmates have telephone access 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. by outgoing collect telephone calls only.

Contraband
During your visit with a client, the client may not be given anything.
Clothing for Clients for Appearances in Circuit Court
Clothing for court appearances will be accepted only when a court date for jury trial has been determined. Your client must forward a request to the BSO Inmate Property Unit for approval to accept the court clothing.
The clothing will only be accepted at the BSO jail facility where your client is being held and only during regular visitation hours.
No clothing will be accepted without approval from the BSO Inmate Property Unit.
Per our policy, all inmate legal or case paperwork must be mailed in unless otherwise authorized.
Legal Assistants/Interpreters
Prior to the initial visit of a legal assistant or interpreter, the attorney must send a letter to the captain of the BSO jail facility indicating the full name, sex, birth date, race and driver's license number of the legal assistant/interpreter and identifying the detainee to be visited. No relative or social acquaintances of the inmate may be used in this capacity.
Proper identification must be provided by your legal assistant/interpreter upon arrival at the jail.
There are a limited number of private, direct contact, attorney/client interview rooms. If these rooms are occupied, your visit may take place in the visitation booth which provides visual and telephone contact with the detainee through a glass partition.
