Join the men and women behind the badge in exploring how the Broward Sheriff’s Office serves the community. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy is a series of classes designed to provide insight into the agency, promote public safety, and foster relationships with the citizens of our community. Citizens Academy attendees will:
- Learn about BSO Patrol Services and participate in a ride along in a BSO District
- Observe demonstrations from K-9, SWAT, and Bomb Squad
- Tour one of our jails, Communications, and the Crime Lab
- And much more!
The Citizens Academy is a 10-week program that will be held at the agency’s Public Safety Building located at 2601 W Broward Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 with scheduled off-site sessions. The program will offer a blend of classroom training and hands-on activities from agency instructors, and will be held every Wednesday from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Requirements
To be considered for participation in the Citizens Academy, the applicant must be over the age of 18 and successfully pass a background investigation.
