Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of 33 guns, including some assault weapons, taken in a smash and grab burglary early today.

The crime occurred at about 3:45 a.m. today at Martin’s Gun and Pawn Shop at 3407 South State Road 7 near West Hollywood. At least two suspects drove an older model Chevrolet station wagon into the front of the business, smashing through roll-down shutters, a steel door and a concrete wall. Once inside, the suspects broke into glass display cases and stole a variety of handguns, plus assault weapons including a Tech 9, two SKS assault rifles and a mini 14 machine gun equipped with a scope and bi-pod stand.

The suspects were inside the store for just a few minutes then fled, apparently making their getaway in another vehicle. The suspects were gone when deputies arrived, having been alerted by Miramar Police who were advised by a passerby that a car had struck a building on the east side of State Road 7. The Chevy wagon used to smash through the storefront was left behind. The car had been stolen from a disabled Miramar man overnight. His wheelchair was still inside the demolished vehicle.

Anyone with any information regarding the theft of these firearms is urged to contact BSO District 1 Detective Richard Pulido at 964-0503. Information can also be relayed anonymously through CrimeStoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
