Description of Incident:

This morning, Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators found a missing 11-year old girl from Lauderdale Lakes. Traeki Walton was discovered at a friend’s Ft. Lauderdale home at about
9:00 a.m.

Traeki had been missing since early the morning of Tuesday, April 30, 2002. She had apparently run away from her home at 2720 Somerset Drive with her 20-year old boyfriend.

A relative of Traeki’s friend saw media reports about the missing girl and contacted detectives at BSO.

Investigators say Traeki appears to be in good health.

The boyfriend has reportedly sought the advice of an attorney and is refusing to speak to investigators about Traeki’s disappearance at this time. The boyfriend has not been charged with any crime.

Traeki’s disappearance sparked an extensive search by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies. BSO detectives are breathing a collective sigh of relief that Traeki has been found and is in seemingly good shape.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is continuing with its investigation into this case.
