DOMESTIC SECURITY TASK FORCE TO MEET
MONDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2001
BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER
1950 EISENHOWER BLVD., PORT EVERGLADES
More than 100 law enforcement and emergency response partners from Southeast Florida will gather Monday to update each other on anti-terrorism plans and preparations.
The Southeast Florida Domestic Security Task Force is addressing dozens of concerns including security improvements at area seaports, sharing information between agencies, public health preparedness, and terrorism training for all emergency responders.
The task force’s six sub-committees will also meet in breakout sessions to begin putting their plans into action, and set deadlines for completion.
The task force, which is co-chaired by Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne, FDLE Director Doyle Jourdan, and U.S. Attorney Guy Lewis, is one of seven around the state. It is comprised of law enforcement, fire rescue, medical and other emergency preparedness experts from Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties.
Due to law enforcement sensitivities, this meeting will be closed to the public.
However, there will be a media availability at 11:30 AM in room 317.
Media note: Parking will be available curbside on the north side of the fountain in front of the convention center.
