Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti and BSO deputies Jerry Wengert and Geoff Brown, the stars of the TLC show Unleashed: K-9 Broward County, have been invited on a behind-the-scenes tour Wednesday of the 4.1-acre South Florida Wildlife Center. TLC, which aired Unleashed, recently made a $9,000 donation to the center.
The unique tour will include the wildlife center’s surgical center, its ambulances and one of its rehabilitative recovery habitats. Tour guests will learn more about the center’s emergency rescue response, triage, diagnostics, surgical and other veterinary treatment capabilities, recovery habitats, orphan nursery rearing and rehabilitative care.
The center treats more than 13,000 injured, orphaned, abandoned or abused wild animals a year and is completely funded by donations. It houses up to 875 animals at a time in dozens of habitats and rehabilitation areas.
Media note: Interested media are welcome on the tour.
