Description of Incident:
When Raimundo Modia arrived at a West Park warehouse on Dec. 22 in the hopes of selling his high-end luxury Mercedes, he didn’t know that the prospective buyer was a career criminal. Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives say Modia was shot several times during the meeting and died at the warehouse. Detectives have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Nalio Williams for first-degree murder.
Modia, 34, is survived by a 5-year-old son. Detectives are asking for the public’s help locating Williams, who may still be in South Florida. Williams has been arrested for identity theft and fraud in the past and may be using an alias.
Williams left a stolen white Toyota Tundra at the shooting scene. The tag on that vehicle was registered to a man in northern Florida whose identity had been stolen, and the vehicle itself was registered to another man in Winter Garden. Modia’s Mercedes was discovered the following day abandoned in Miami Gardens.
Anyone with information about Nalio Williams or the shooting can contact BSO Detective Shane Schroeder at 954-321-4210 or report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.
Media note: A 2010 mug shot of Nalio Williams is attached to this release.
