Description of Incident:

A suspect wanted for a fatal stabbing was apprehended by BSO detectives and Ft. Lauderdale police early Thursday morning.

At 12:39 p.m. Wednesday, BSO deputies responded to 3024 NW 8 Ct. where Keema Gooding, 20, had been stabbed by a known subject, identified as 19-year-old Walter Hart, III. Earlier in the day, a vehicle Gooding was driving was hit by the suspect’s vehicle at another location. According to detectives, after the crash, Gooding, his girlfriend and some other friends went to the Northwest 8 Court location where there was an exchange of words among Gooding, Hart and the group. Hart plunged a knife into Gooding’s chest and he was driven by friends to Plantation General Hospital. Medical personnel attempted to stabilize Gooding’s injuries and he was transferred to the trauma center at Broward Health Medical Center. Gooding was pronounced dead at 2:11 p.m.

BSO homicide detectives developed leads into Thursday morning that led them to several locations. When they arrived at 1701 NW 15 Pl. in Ft. Lauderdale around 1 a.m., a woman answered the door and tried to stall the detectives. The suspect bolted out the back door of the house and attempted to flee when, with the assistance of a Ft. Lauderdale police dog, he was apprehended. Hart was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and later booked into the BSO Main Jail where he now faces one count of second-degree murder and resisting arrest with violence charges.
