Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office Homicide detectives want to speak with anyone who may have seen a 51-year old Pompano Beach man before the man was found murdered in his apartment earlier this week.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, a maintenance worker for the Tropics Resort at 1200 North Ocean Boulevard found the body of Philippe Michel Nicolas in apartment 402. BSO investigators initially thought Nicolas, who was six feet tall, weighed nearly three hundred pounds, and had a history of health problems, had died of natural causes. However, further investigation by BSO detectives and evidence from the autopsy revealed that Nicolas was murdered.

Homicide detectives say Mr. Nicolas, a French citizen, was last been seen alive on Sunday the 16th or Monday the 17th as he walked his dog near the pool at the apartment complex. They say Nicolas frequented several Pompano Beach establishments like Piranha Pats, Traders Ocean Resort, and the Briny Irish Pub. With his little, white Terrier by his side, Nicolas often drove through Pompano Beach in his silver, late model Porsche Boxter. The victim was also known to frequently be in the company of young, white men.

A reward of up to $1,000.00 may be available for information on this case. Broward Sheriff's Office investigators are asking anyone with information about Philippe Michel Nicolas or his murder to contact Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS or BSO Homicide detectives at
(954) 321-4210
