Description of Incident:
Two hours after being caught in the act of breaking into vehicles outside a Weston business a burglary suspect died of an apparent heart attack while receiving hospital treatment.
The suspect Marion “Gary” Ellison, 36, was declared dead at 6:04 a.m. at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Weston. Paramedics had rushed Ellison to the facility after he complained to BSO deputies of chest pains and shortness of breath following his apprehension at 4:16 a.m.
At 4:03 a.m., a BSO deputy on routine patrol saw Ellison breaking into trucks parked outside the B & H Air Conditioning Company at 1700 W. Commerce Parkway. Three of the company’s vehicles had been burglarized. As the deputy approached, Ellison ran to his car (’96 Mazda) and fled the scene of the crime. The deputy contacted other units by radio and Ellison was stopped at State Road 84 and Weston Road. Deputies noticed that Ellison was sweating profusely after he complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. Paramedics were summoned to the scene and they immediately took Ellison to the nearby Cleveland Clinic.

Ellison had an extensive criminal history, including arrests in Broward County for Robbery, Assault, Aggravated Battery and Marijuana Possession. He had also been arrested several times in Gainesville for charges including Robbery and Murder.
