Date: Oct. 15, 2013                                                              PIO Number: 13-10-15

Sheriff Scott Israel is proud to announce that there’s room for professional growth at the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and we’re promoting from within.

Since the first of September, 42 BSO employees, both sworn and civilian, from various departments within the organization have earned a promotion. Those ascending to new posts include 13 civilians, 14 in the Department of Law Enforcement, nine in the Department of Detention and Community Programs and six in the Department of Fire Rescue.

”I am proud of our employees and encourage them to grow personally and professionally,” Sheriff Scott Israel said. “It makes me even happier to know that once they achieve that growth, they choose to stay with our agency. That speaks volumes for BSO.”

The promotions include one major, three captains, 11 lieutenants, 11 sergeants and five civilians previously working as detention technicians, who are now deputy sheriffs in the DODCP.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is the largest fully-accredited sheriff's office in the United States with 5,500 employees and an annual operating budget of $730 million.

MEDIA NOTE: A list of the promoted personnel is attached below.
