Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office investigators are turning up the heat on an armed robber on the run. A reward of up to $1,000.00 is now up for grabs in the case of Armando Sandoval.

On June 29, 2002, Sandoval accompanied Angel Landeras to the Tamarac home of 58-year old Angelo Reyes. Landeras had gone to the Reyes home to collect money for remodeling work he had performed for Reyes.

It was shortly after 9:00 p.m. and the three men sat around the Reyes kitchen table sipping beer. As Mr. Reyes handed Landeras $100.00 for the work he had done, Sandoval suddenly pulled out a handgun, cocked the hammer, pointed it at the homeowner, and demanded more money. Reyes complied, giving the gunman an additional $600.00.

Surprised by the outburst, Landeras pleaded with Sandoval to put the gun away, but the gunman responded by striking Landeras. The fray gave Reyes an opening and he jumped on Sandoval, placed his thumb over the gun’s hammer, and snatched the weapon from the robber.

Reyes chased Sandoval from his home, firing two shots at the fleeing thief, missing both times. Fortunately, no one was hit by the homeowner’s gunshots.

Armando Sandoval has not been seen since. A photo of the suspect is attached to this news release, posted on the Broward Sheriff’s Office website: www.sheriff.org. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of Sandoval. Anyone with information on this crook should call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
