Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 68-year-old man who apparently drowned in his backyard swimming pool.

The investigation started this morning after the body of Rodrique Ducas was found by deputies and paramedics at the bottom of a backyard pool at 3364 SW 14th Street near Fort Lauderdale. Ducas was the owner of Panther Electric Company and his employees became concerned when he failed to show up for work this morning. They called 911 and deputies were sent to the residence to do a welfare check, at which time Ducas’ body was discovered.

Ducas was last seen alive (by his brother) at about 4 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy will be performed by the Broward Medical Examiner to officially establish the cause of death, currently presumed to be accidental drowning.
