Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery detectives are trying to locate one robbery suspect and have two others in custody in two unrelated incidents that occurred late Saturday night.

The first case took place in the 4900 block NW 52 Court in Tamarac just after 9 p.m. Angel Landarus went to the residence, accompanied with his buddy, to collect payment for a tile job he had previously done. As Angelo Reyes pulled out the cash, the second guy – believed to be a Hispanic male in his late 20’s – saw the wad of money and demanded all of it. The suspect pulled out a 9 mm handgun and hit Landarus, his buddy, over the head. At that point, a physical confrontation ensued between the suspect and Reyes. Reyes managed to wrestle the suspect to the floor and retrieve the gun. A few shots were fired, but fortunately, no one was hurt. The suspect, who detectives may have identified because he left his truck at the scene, escaped with several hundred dollars. A perimeter was set up in the area, but the suspect was not located.

In an unrelated case, two suspects in their late teens entered the Miami Subs, located at 721 South Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach shortly before 10 p.m. After committing the robbery, the two fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The getaway car was described as an older model Dodge Intrepid. The manager was transported to North Broward Medical Center. His head injury, from possibly being pistol whipped, does not appear to be life threatening.

Sometime around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, a BSO deputy spotted the Dodge Intrepid on I-95. The female driver told investigators she loaned the car to Donald Lowe and Jerome Stewart, who fit the suspects’ descriptions. Lowe and Stewart were arrested at an apartment complex in Deerfield Beach at 5350 NE 50 Terrace. The two remain in the BSO’s Main Jail on a no bond hold, charged with armed robbery and battery.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the first suspect is asked to call the BSO Robbery Unit at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.

MEDIA NOTE: I have no further information on victim Angel Landarus nor have I been able to confirm the name of the Miami Subs manager. If you call Miami Subs or NBMC, try the name Luis Villareal DOB 12/27/68.
