Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating a sexual battery involving an elderly woman attacked inside her home near Fort Lauderdale.

At 7:30 a.m. a 911 call was received from an 85-year-old woman who said she had been raped inside her house. Responding deputies found that the elderly lady, who is partially disabled, bruised but not seriously injured as a result of the brutal attack. The woman told deputies that she was asleep in her bed when she awoke at 7 a.m. to find a naked man standing beside her bed. She said the man told her to be quiet and then committed a sexual battery upon her. Following the assault, the suspect left the single-family residence and the victim called her great grand daughter, who advised her to call 911. The victim was taken to the Sexual Assault Treatment Center for an examination.

Detectives found evidence of a forced entry, indicating the intruder broke in to the home. The victim said she did not know her attacker. There have been no similar crimes in the Broadview community in recent history.

The suspect is described as a white male, well-tanned or possibly Hispanic, about 5’11” with a thin build. Anyone with any information is urged to call the Broward Sheriff's Office at 765-4321 or CrimeStoppers at 493-TIPS.
