KEEP YOUR VEHICLE SAFE - NORTH BROWARD
The Broward Sheriff's Office is giving North Broward residents the tools they need to help keep their vehicles secure.
On two days, Wednesday, October 30, 2002 and Saturday, November 2, 2002, BSO deputies from District-9 will offer free vehicle theft deterrents.
Each day from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the deputies will be at the North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, 201 East Sample Road, to offer VIN etching and C.A.T. (Combat Auto Theft) program registration.
CAT is a remarkably effective way for citizens and law enforcement to work together to keep vehicle theft in check. When you register for CAT, a highly visible sticker is placed on the rear window of your vehicle. The sticker lets law enforcement know that your car or truck should not be on the road between 1:00 am and 5:00 am. It’s a great way to help cut down on nighttime auto theft.
VIN (vehicle identification number) etching puts a factory-assigned identification number on each window of your vehicle, making it less desirable to thieves.
For more information on the BSO free VIN etching or C.A.T. programs, contact Deputies Tom Demchar or Tom Watkins at District-9, (954) 786-2100.
