BSO AND ROCK CREEK ANIMAL HOSPITAL OFFERING FREE CHIP-A-PET EVENT IN COOPER CITY

Date: March 26, 2014                                                                              PIO Number: 14-3-27

The Broward Sheriff’s Office and Rock Creek Animal Hospital are teaming up to offer a free Chip-a-Pet event Saturday, March 29 for Cooper City residents. Veterinarians will implant microchips in dogs and cats from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BSO’s district office in Cooper City.

9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Saturday, March 29, 2014

BSO Cooper City District Office

10580 Stirling Road, Cooper City

Registration Required

The microchips contain information to identify dogs or cats and their owners in the event that the pets are found away from home. The information on each animal with a microchip is registered in a database. In 2013, BSO deputies in Cooper City responded to 167 animal calls, many of which involved unidentified pets. Deputies and BSO community service aides typically have to go door to door to find a lost animal’s owner.

All participants must register in advance for the event by calling (954) 432-9000 ext. 249. Only dogs and cats will be chipped. Two pets per household will be allowed.
