Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit detectives are searching for an unidentified man who wounded a victim in the parking lot of a Deerfield Beach market. The shooter, who had no qualms about firing his gun in front of several witnesses, also had no worries about returning to the site minutes after the shooting.

Just before 7 p.m. May 5, Harold Strudwick had gotten out of work and was driving in the alley that runs alongside Ali’I Market in Deerfield Beach. A co-worker rode in Strudwick’s passenger seat. As they reached the parking lot, a red four-door sedan with dark tinted windows pulled up, partially blocking their path. The driver stepped out and pointed a gun at the victim. He fired one shot into the victim’s car, wounding him in the hand.

The passenger and several passers-by fled into the store while the victim’s car slowly rolled into another vehicle. The shooter got back into his car and fled.

Like out of a bad detective drama, approximately three minutes later, the shooter returned to the scene. He got out of his car, to the shock of the store’s patrons, and appeared to search the ground for several seconds. Detectives believe he may have been searching for a bullet casing, but he quickly gave up and drove away.

The shooter is described as a black male, approximately 5 foot 10 inches with long dreadlocks and a medium to heavy frame. He wore a white T-shirt and light-colored shorts.
