Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriffs Homicide detectives, in cooperation with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, have arrested a man wanted for a murder that took place late last month in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale.

On July 11th, BSO investigators served a search warrant on a Ft. Lauderdale home and checked out another home in Cooper City. They obtained evidence leading them to a house, located at 2152 Whitepine Circle, in Green Acres (Palm Beach County). Shortly before 4pm on July 13th, BSO and PBSO served a search warrant on the home and arrested Richard Lewis without incident. His vehicle, a black 4-door Cadillac, was also in the driveway. Detectives are still searching for two other suspects in the murder who have yet to be identified.

The original incident occurred at 11:21pm on June 24th, Reginald Wallace and some friends were playing dice in front of 3521 NW 7th Court in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale. A slow-moving car passed by and moments later an armed man approached. The men began to flee and Wallace was shot.

On July 10th, investigators located the getaway car in East Ft. Lauderdale. The vehicle belongs to the mother of a woman identified as the girlfriend of Richard Thomas Lewis. Detectives were able to confirm it was the car used in the murder by matching pieces of the vehicle left at the scene following a minor accident during the suspects’ escape. Additionally, witnesses were able to identify Lewis as one of the culprits through a photo lineup. The other two suspects involved in the murder have not yet been identified.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lewis' cohorts should contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to their arrest.
