WOMAN’S SCRIPTED ROBBERY IS A BUST

Date: June 1, 2017                                         PIO Number: 17-6-1

A woman walks into a Dania Beach pharmacy and hands a pharmacist two notes demanding prescription medications. Her scripted robbery attempt goes off the rails when the doctor doesn't comply. Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are hoping newly released surveillance video of the failed robbery will lead to her arrest.

The incident unfolded around 9:40 a.m. May 31 when the robber enters the Walgreens at 202 S. Federal Highway. She approaches the pharmacy counter and asks to speak to the pharmacist. She hands him a note listing the drugs she wants. When he doesn't respond to her demand, she hands him a second note that says the medicine is for her ailing father. When he doesn't budge, the robber threatens the pharmacist and says her brothers are outside and armed. At that point, the employee walks away to get help and the suspect leaves.

The unsuccessful robber has long, dark hair that she wore in a ponytail. She was dressed in a black long-sleeve top and black pants. She left the store in a dark blue Hyundai Elantra.

BSO detectives believe she also recently tried to rob three other pharmacies in Hollywood. Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4738. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
