The Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force will hear progress reports from its six sub-committees at its next meeting, Monday, at Miami City Hall.

At the December meeting, each sub-committee was tasked with coming up with plans and a timeline to make sure all agencies in the four-county region could respond quickly and appropriately to a terrorist incident.

For example, the training sub-committee is identifying what additional training is needed, and scheduling the appropriate courses. The emergency services sub-committee is determining where updated equipment is needed, and planning readiness exercises. The investigations and intelligence sub-committee is implementing a statewide terrorism database to make it easier for law enforcement officers to share intelligence.

Due to law enforcement sensitivities, the meeting will be closed to the public. However at noon, Task Force Co-Chairs Sheriff Ken Jenne and FDLE Director Doyle Jourdan, and Miami Police Chief Raul Martinez will be available to answer media questions.

The Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force is one of seven task forces statewide. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties are participants, along with fire rescue, medical and other emergency preparedness officials.
