WESTON CHILD CHARGED WITH SEX OFFENSES

BSO Case Number: WS03-01-1653

Victim(s): three males, ages six, six and seven

Suspect(s): Name withheld, 11, male, Weston

Description of Incident:

An 11-year-old Weston boy has been charged with Sexual Battery and Molestation for engaging in sex acts with three younger children.

The mother of one six-year-old victim contacted the Broward Sheriff’s Office after her son said that he and his seven-year-old friend were involved in sexual activities with an 11-year-old acquaintance. District 8 (Weston) deputies referred the case to the BSO Sex Crimes Unit and a thorough investigation was conducted.

Detectives determined that the suspect, a fourth grade elementary school student, had engaged in sex acts with the two six-year-olds and a seven-year-old boy, all of whom lived in the same Weston neighborhood. The offenses started occurring last year when two of the boys were in Kindergarten.

The suspect was brought to the Sheriff’s office by his mother late Monday and was taken into custody. He is charged with one count of Sexual Battery and two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation and remains in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center. If he were an adult he would be facing a maximum sentence of life in prison plus 60 years, however he will be handled as a child through the juvenile justice system
