News from BSO


The following is a list of festivals, parades, fireworks displays and other July 4th activities recommended by the Broward Sheriff's Office. All activities will take place on Thursday, July 4th.

LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA (District 13): Sheriff Ken Jenne will be riding out with BSO’s Mounted Unit in the city’s annual Independence Day parade starting at 4501 North Ocean Drive at 10 a.m. The parade will wind through the city before ending at its starting point. Festivalgoers will enjoy rides, food, and other concessions from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. before viewing a dazzling fireworks display starting at 9 p.m.

POMPANO BEACH (District 11): The city of Pompano Beach will hold its annual fireworks display at the Pompano Beach Pier. The spectacular show will begin at 9 p.m. Bridges will be closed from 9 p.m. until about 11 p.m.

DEERFIELD BEACH (District 10): Motorists and those attending the city’s annual celebration and firework display should be aware deputies will be re-routing traffic and have several road closures from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. A1A at the Broward and Palm Beach County line, A1A at SE 10 Street, and Hillsboro at the Intercoastal Waterway bridge will all be closed. The all-day celebration, including food, music, and games, will take place on the beach. Fireworks are scheduled to start about 9 p.m.

WESTON (District 8): First Baptist Church of Weston has planned a “Festival for the Family” at the church, located at 1420 Indian Trace. The Fourth of July celebration will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The church will offer free food and fun for all members of the family. Children can enjoy a large bounce house, slide, Velcro wall, and other games and activities.

The city of Weston has more activities planned starting with a parade at 10:30 a.m. at the Town Center, located at 1675 Main Street. There will be appearances by McGruff, BSO’s Motorcycle Unit, the Citizen Observer Patrol (COP) Unit, the Mounted Unit and others. Festivities, including a DJ and games for the children, will continue at Weston Regional Park, located at 20200 Saddle Club Road. The fireworks display will start about 9 p.m.

TAMARAC (District 7): The city of Tamarac is hosting an “All American Celebration” starting at 6 p.m. at the Tamarac Sports Complex, located at 9901 NW 77 Street. The fireworks display will commence at 9 p.m.
