Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Program Graduates Honored This Week

Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne and Dr. Roslyn Carter of Florida Atlantic University announce the latest graduating class of law enforcement professionals from the Center for Advanced Criminal Justice Studies.

On Friday, August 23, 2002, thirty-four graduates will be honored for successfully completing the Center’s Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Program. A commencement ceremony and breakfast for the graduates and alumni will be in the Amaturo Theater of the Broward Center for Performing Arts beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Broward Sheriff's Office, along with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County, opened the Center in May, 1999 to give students the opportunity to apply criminal justice theory to real-life circumstances. The program, held for 25 consecutive weeks at FAU’s Davie campus, is a beneficial resource for law enforcement professionals hoping to advance their careers.

Broward Sheriff's Office Captain Kim Spadaro and South Bay Police Department Chief Danny D. Jones, two of the graduates from this latest class, will address their classmates at Friday’s graduation.

Lauderdale PD Captain Lee Spector & Sergeants Thomas Dickson, Alfred Lewers, Michael Martin, and Anthony Williams, Hallandale PD Sergeants Tim Derflinger and David Terrones, Juno Beach PD Captain Robert E. Mutz, Lake Worth PD Lieutenant Peter W. Ebel and Sergeant Charles G. Kane, Lantana PD Sergeant Christopher Decker, Lighthouse Point PD Sergeant Jack Vaccaro, Margate PD Lieutenant Arnold Finkelstein and Sergeant Greg Cosmar,
Miami-Dade Schools PD Sergeant Thurman MacNeal, Palm Beach PD Sergeants Daniel Szarszewski and Jeffrey Trylch, Pembroke Pines PD Lieutenant Kenneth Hall, Plantation PD Captain Patrick McGowan, Sunrise PD Lieutenant Robert Voss, Village of Key Biscayne PD Sergeant Carlos Rodriguez and Lieutenant Jose F. Montgagudo, and Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Lieutenants Bryan Kummerlen and Mary Olsen.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is at 201 SW 5th Avenue in Ft. Lauderdale.

The next Criminal Justice Executive Leadership class begins January 10, 2003.
