SANTA AND BSO HELP NEEDY KIDS AT ANNUAL EVENT
Thousands of Broward County’s most disadvantaged children are expected to join Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne and Santa Claus for the annual Broward Sheriff's Office Toys for Tots and Teens toy giveaway this weekend.
On Saturday, December 21, long before the official start time of 10:00 a.m., moms, dads, and kids of all ages will begin lining up for this annual event now in its tenth year. Before too long, the line of those invited and those who just ‘drop by’, will seem to wrap around the RON COCHRAN PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING, 2601 W. Broward Boulevard, Ft. Lauderdale.
Many of the youngsters in attendance are selected and invited by BSO School Resource Officers and School Board staff. Beyond the toys, families most in need also walk away with gift certificates good for groceries to help ensure there will be food on the table for the holidays.
Last year, dozens of dedicated BSO employees volunteered their time to help Santa and Sheriff Jenne hand out more than 7,000 brand new toys. This year already shows promise of breaking all previous records.
The annual BSO Toys for Tots and Teens toy giveaway continues to grow with the kind support of the Florida Marlins, Enterprise Leasing, Wal-Mart, BrandsMart USA, Holland America Cruises, Union Planters Bank, Sam’s Club, Champion Auto, Union Bank, Rick Case Acura/Honda/Hyundai, and many others.
