MAKE SAFETY A PRIORITY WHILE CELEBRATING THIS 4TH

Date: July 2, 2014                                                                        PIO Number: 14-7-2

The Broward Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend. BSO will be conducting a countywide DUI saturation patrol. BSO deputies, motormen and the DUI Task Force will be actively enforcing DUI laws and identifying impaired and aggressive drivers.

While you celebrate, be sure to make safety your priority. Remember, a cab ride can cost you $20, but a DUI arrest will cost you thousands. You can choose your ride and prevent DUI-related incidents simply by having a plan in place before the party starts.

BSO’s DUI Task Force proactively enforces Florida's DUI laws by detecting, investigating and apprehending impaired drivers. Task Force deputies also assist other law enforcement agencies and the State Attorney's Office. The unit also offers DUI training; provides educational presentations and facilitates support groups including Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD).

This news release is being issued in compliance with a Supreme Court ruling mandating prior announcement of selective enforcement activities.
