CREDIT CARD THIEF ON LOOSE IN WESTON

A thief with an appetite for credit cards is working in Weston.

The burglar struck the morning of Tuesday, November 13, 2001, between 8:30 and 9:30. He busted the window of a Toyota minivan parked in the 16000 block of Racquet Club Road, reached inside the vehicle, and made off with a purse that had been sitting in plain view.

The suspect then used the victim’s credit card at businesses in Weston, including a gas station and a camera store.

The Broward Sheriff's Office needs your help in stopping this burglar before he hits again.

A clerk at the camera store described the thief as a Latin male between 32 and 36 years old, about 6-feet tall with a thin build and an olive complexion. His black hair was cut short; he has light-colored eyes, and spoke with a “South American accent”. He was last seen driving a 1995-1997 Chevy Tahoe tan or cream in color.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the Broward Sheriff's Office District 8 office at (954) 389-2010 or Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.

Also, the Broward Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone to keep valuables out of site when leaving a vehicle in a parking lot, especially during the holiday season.
