Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are trying to identify a woman who walked into a McDonald’s restaurant to buy a happy meal and walked out with the meal and an iPad.

The distasteful theft took place around 7:15 p.m. on June 12 in Deerfield Beach. The woman, who arrived in a white SUV, walked up to the counter and placed her order. She stepped away to use the bathroom. Meanwhile, another customer stepped up to the counter and put down his iPad and a sweater while he placed his order. The man grabbed his sweater and walked over to the soda machine to fill his cup leaving the iPad behind. He was standing by the soda machine waiting for his food when the woman approached the counter to grab her happy meal. As she walked away, the iPad caught her eye. Though the owner of the tablet was standing a couple of feet away from his iPad, he didn’t notice when the woman looked around, grabbed the device and walked away.

The suspect arrived alone, but she is seen leaving with a young girl who had been inside the McDonald’s with another lady.

Anyone who can identify the thief, the young girl or the woman accompanying the young girl is asked to call BSO Detective Chris Caldwell at 954-480-4287. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
