Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are hoping the public will be able to identify a suspect who was captured on surveillance video committing an armed robbery at a seafood restaurant in Oakland Park on Saturday night.
The robbery occurred on June 29th, at approximately 11:30 p.m. at the Long John Silver’s restaurant, located at 2799 West Oakland Park Boulevard. A lone suspect, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, entered the restaurant through a rear unlocked door just as the manger and other employees were closing. The manager had unlocked the door earlier in order to take out the trash.
The gunman ordered the victims to the dining area while demanding the day’s earnings from the manager. The unidentified suspect fled the eatery without injuring anyone, taking with him an undisclosed amount of cash. The area was canvassed, but the suspect was not located. The suspect, who spoke with a very deep voice, is described as a dark skinned black male about five feet eleven inches tall, last seen wearing black jeans and a black sweater or sweatshirt, and a yellow ski cap. He had very pronounced bumps (possibly a severe skin condition) on his cheeks, chin and neck area.
Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call BSO Robbery Detective Bob Kerr at (954) 321-4270 or call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
